At the age of six, Ryo Kunihiko began studying classical piano under Professor Takizaki Sizuyoko of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.
Kunihiko started out as a keyboardist, composer and sound producer while he studied at the Nippon Medical School. After graduating he worked as an anaesthetist for a year before returning to work on his music composition. He started his music career as a solo artist, composing film music and performing, composing and producing many popular artists around the world.
His best-known works are the soundtrack to movie Thunderbolt (starring Jackie Chan), NHK TV animation The Twelve Kingdoms, Sainokoku Monogatari, Emma (Japan). Kunihiko has an diverse approach to music, with genres ranging from classical, to rock and world music. Such are his achievements, his documentary, produced by MBC (a Korean broadcasting station), was shown nationally on television, his Frontier! score, included in his 4th album, was appointed as an official track of the Busan Asian Games 2002 and Echoes was accepted as CM music of Samsung, the representative company of Korea.
When he’s not mastering his own solo albums, Kunihiko also records original soundtracks, television documentaries and online game soundtracks. He has also worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Most recently, Ryo Kunihiko has been putting the final touches to the official soundtrack for Aion: The Tower of Eternity.
