Aegir (Design Manager)
What is your name and what is your field of activity at NCsoft?

Munny (http://www.kidrobot.com/html/munny3/index.html) is Aegir`s favorite!
My name is Aegir and I***8217;m responsible for the design and implementation of NCsoft Europe***8217;s websites, adverts, packaging, point-of-sale and merchandise. I lead a team of four talented and experienced designers and together we work closely with content writers, marketing managers, the sales team, localisation and development studios. We do everything from working out the original concept of a project through to developing the complete website and submitting final print proofs to printers.
How did you come to NCsoft?
I was working in a nearby agency and a friend of mine contacted me to tell me about this new company called NCsoft Europe, and that they needed a designer. I polished my CV, updated my online portfolio and sent it over!
What are you working on presently?
I***8217;m working on the preliminary plans for Guild Wars 2 with ArenaNet, and on a new European site for Aion: The Tower of Eternity.
What do you like most at your job?
The freedom to be creative and to innovate. NCsoft is full of talented creative people, so anything you want to do becomes possible. You can suggest something and there will always be someone excited by it enough to help you.
What is your favourite NCsoft title and why?
City of Heroes. I***8217;ve always been attracted to the urban setting of the game. I find the cities and towns in games interesting, so it***8217;s great that there***8217;s a game which is entirely set in a city. The massive customisation of the costumes that is possible in CoH is great too, but really, it***8217;s the architecture I like.
What other game genres (except MMOs) are you interested in and what are your favourites?

Coffee for the win!
Again, I like games with big urban environments to explore. I enjoyed the style of ICO, but my favourite game has to be the GTA series ***8211; it***8217;s hard to choose between GTA 3 and Vice City, but San Andreas felt like far too much work to me. LCS and VCS were a welcome return to the original concept of ***8216;fun***8217;.
What is your favourite TV show or series? What are your favourite films?
I***8217;m a big fan of Law and Order, and recently, House MD. My favourite film is After Life by Hirokazu Koreeda.
Do you like reading? If yes, what kind of books do you have in your bookcase?
I am an avid reader. I lose track of what I***8217;ve read recently ***8211; I tend to find an author and read everything they***8217;ve written, so I***8217;ve got lots of Iain M Banks, Neal Stephenson, Susanna Clarke, Haruki Murakami and loads more. As for what I***8217;m reading right now ***8211; it***8217;s a reference book: ***8220;Processing: A Programming Handbook for Visual Designers and Artists***8221;
What are you doing in your spare time?
http://aion.gamona.de/images/screenshots/thumb/tnm_246.jpg (http://aion.gamona.de/images/screenshots/246.jpg)
Aegir loves to photograph!
I design typefaces, maintain a site on typography, practice my illustration and photography and maintain a photoblog. I***8217;m also learning French.
McDonald***8217;s or Burger King?
Neither. I despise fast food.
Coca Cola or Pepsi?
Neither ***8211; I hate sweet drinks. I drink coffee during the day and beer in the evening!
If you would have one year free time and enough money: Where would you spend your time and what would you do?
I***8217;d spend a few months visiting some cities I***8217;ve always wanted to; New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore. Then I***8217;d come back and design and build my own house. Why, are you offering? http://aion.gamona.de/images/smilies/smile.gif
